Sell My House and Move to a Senior Living Community in Kansas City

Actually, in this case, I think 60 years or 70 years, probably at this point. So they’ve been in their home for a long time, have enjoyed their home for a long time.
With the assistance of a relative, she is looking at moving to a senior living community here in the Kansas City area. And the things that we discussed, a couple of different items, to see what method or what option really works best for them. In her circumstance, the house has not been updated the entire time. And so even though it is in great condition for an older home, for any buyers or any traditional buyers in today’s market, they would be looking at doing a lot of improvements to the home; things like a new kitchen, new bathrooms, possibly even adding on or finishing some of the unfinished area. And the normal cosmetics like interior paint and taking up the carpets, and redoing the hardwood floors most likely. But all in all, there’s a big chunk of money that a new buyer would look at putting into the house if they wanted to call it home and to bring it up to its full potential value.

We also discussed the benefits that I can offer to her to see if those would be of value, to see if selling the house direct to me would be a benefit to them and would be an option for them.

She could take whatever items that she wanted to take to her new apartment along, but whatever she didn’t want to take or sell, any of stuff that she’s had accumulated for the years, she could just leave, and we’ll take care of that.
She wouldn’t have to worry about doing any items to get the house in show ready condition or market ready condition. She wouldn’t have to worry about showing the house or anybody else coming through the house at all, like a traditional sale. And she wouldn’t have to worry about any items that might turn up to be deficiencies from that whole house inspection or appraisal; which on this house, certainly could be substantial.
Flexible Closing and Possession Dates
The other big benefit that might be of value to her is she knows that she wants to sell the house and she wants to get into a different community, a senior community here in Kansas City. But she doesn’t have a place picked out yet, and she doesn’t know exactly where she’s going. So with us, we can buy the house so that she knows that the house is sold, but then take her time, 30, 60, 90 days in order to transition to a new home or new apartment community.
And so those are some of the items that they are considering to see what option is best to sell the house and move on with her life.
